Price Of A Child Writing Assignment

Tyree
Smart, Handsome, Strong
Dark brown skin, Chocolate brown eyes, Bright white smile
Confident talk, Swaggering walk
Sets my body on fire.

Calm, Cool, Suave
Responsible, Honest, Loyal
Loving deposition, Caring imposition
Arousing both my body and my mind.

He makes me feel loved
He makes me feel joy
He makes me feel special to him
As if I have a place in his heart.

He is brilliant and beautiful, and oh my how I want him.
He makes me wild with lust and crazy with love.
I feel him here with me, at night, alone.
He comforts me and I am never alone.

He is my knight in shining armor and my bright light in the darkness
He is my beacon of joy in this pit of despair.
He makes me smile when all I want to do is cry
He makes me hot and I don’t know why.

It must be the smile, or the eyes or the personality
Maybe it’s just the love that I feel emanating off of him and into my heart
Warming me. Setting me free. Letting me live in happiness.
Now all I need is my Bennie, and my life will be complete.

  1. I liked this poem. The other poems that I read were depressing. This one was about love and want and it was different than what the other kids wrote about this book. You had a good description of Tyree and this poem shows how much Mercer really did love him.

  2. I agree with Camille, Carol, you took a much different approach with this in comparison to the other poetic writings I've seen in response to this novel. You incorporate rhyme particularly well in a few choice lines. There's also a nice amount of heat to your writing, especially towards the end. Nice work.
